Well I think that the Kanamit gave a sort of new electricity to them. It was a type that they've never had, so they connected a needle from the Kanamit to the machine and whenever he said a lie the needle would jump , and if it was true it wouldn't do anything. The Kanama first tricked the humans, they said that they we're going to look like a superhuman,but they were actually going ton eat them.
Why does the narrator, Peter, quit his job as a translator for the United Nations?
It was because he foresaw that it was going to die under him anyhow. He thought they weren't what they looked like,
and he kind of knew what was going to happen.

(1.)The monster said" that was going to bring peace and when their world don't have no more hunger, on more war, no more other races throughout the galaxy's, no more needle suffering. That will be their reward
(2.)The other reason is they came down to earth just to eat the humans.

Peter quit because he foresaw that the company is going to die under him anyhow. The U.N business was booming at the time and there was nothing to do about.
